Season 25/26

«Metamorphosis»

In the 2025/26 season, the Zurich Chamber Singers present a four-part concert series at Liebestrasse Winterthur. The theme of the season is «Metamorphosis». Across four concerts, the idea of transformation is explored — musically, philosophically, psychologically, and physically — through programs that transcend historical periods and reflect on the human experience in its many forms of change. Two Swiss composers contribute new commissioned works on the theme of Metamorphosis, which will be premiered in the final project of the season. Dieter Jordi, a composer from Winterthur, explores different levels of perception and mental transformation in his new work. David Philip Hefti, in turn, sets to music Ovid’s story of Iphis — a composition that concludes and encapsulates the season.

The 2025/26 season also includes several guest appearances: In October, the Zurich Chamber Singers will make their debut at the Klosters Music Festival with choral and organ works by Bach, Bruckner, Palestrina, and others — joined by the outstanding organist Christian Schmitt. The same program will be performed in the concert series of the Oberstrass Church in Zurich. In November, the Zurich Chamber Singers will collaborate for the first time with argovia philharmonic: Together with this excellent orchestra, Mozart’s Requiem will be performed in Aarau and Baden. In December, the choir will also appear with its Christmas Metamorphosis program at the Kunsthalle Appenzell. The season culminates in the fourth Metamorphosis program, with a concert at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the Zurich Chamber Singers’ debut at the Sendesaal Bremen.
